William “Bill” Sweedler, Windsong Global's founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer, has spent the last 25 years as an investor and operator dedicated to improving companies’ performance, coaching executive teams, and ultimately enhancing shareholder value.
Windsong Global, through its three investing divisions, is currently investing across a broad spectrum of the consumer industry including its primary sector themes; active lifestyle, beauty and wellness, and fitness and health. Windsong Global verticals include private equity, private capital, intellectual property investments, along with an operational digital services group to support investments and partnerships. In addition, Mr. Sweedler is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Tengram Capital Partners, a consumer private equity firm with two active funds under management. Tengram current and prior investments in brands represent several billion in retail sales across two funds.
Mr. Sweedler has served as a director to several public entities since 2001 and is currently serving as director on the private boards of HRB Brands, Tommie Copper, Belle Brands, Algenist Skincare, Tone it Up, Swims, Piloti, and Sweed POS.
During his tenure as an operator and investor he made several investments in well-known consumer brands including Robert Graham, Design Within Reach, Joe’s Jeans, Nest Fragrances, Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart, Hudson Apparel, Gaiam Yoga, Tommie Copper, and many others.
Previous to investing, he was president & CEO of Joe Boxer, a wholly owned division of the Iconix Brand Group (NASDAQ: ICON) of which he was also EVP and a Board Member. Prior to Mr. Sweedler joining Iconix Brand Group, he was a founder and CEO of Windsong Allegiance Group, a diverse apparel wholesaler, marketer, and brand management company. At Windsong Allegiance Group, he recognized an emerging industry trend that brought brands directly in partnership with retailers in the form of direct retail licensing agreements. While CEO, he led the acquisition, restructuring, and sale of the Joe Boxer, Hathaway, and various other branded companies at Windsong Allegiance Group.
He graduated from Babson College with a BS in Finance and Investments and joined Polo Ralph Lauren for four years prior to co-founding Windsong Allegiance Group.
